Freezing Bread DoughFreezing Quick Breads: To freeze, wrap loaf well in plastic wrap or foil before enclosing in airtight container. If you are planning to use the whole loaf, freeze whole for up to one month. Or you can cut the loaf in half or individual peices to have something to serve on more than one occasion. The idea is to stop freezer air from stealing the moisture from the loaf. So seal the loaf in plastic wrap first then in an air tight container before freezing up to 1 month. Freezing Bread after it's baked: breads baked after freezing will be smaller and tougher. If freezing store bought bread overwrap the bread you buy if it is to stay in the freezer for more than 1 week. If freezing fresh baked loaves, cool them completely, then slice (this saves thawing time later). Freeze up to 9 months. To thaw, let bread stand wrapped at room temperature about 3 hours or toast frozen slices in toaster. Or make lunch box sandwhiches with frozen bread. |
