Better Pizza Dough Recipe
1 cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
8 g packet quick-rise or regular dry yeast
2 tbsp olive oil
3 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp salt or 1 tbsp kosher salt
2 tbsp all purpose flour
Pour water into a large bowl or measuring cup. Water should be warmer then body temperature. Site in sugar and yeast. Let stand until mixtyr is foamy on top from 5 - 10 minutes, then stir in oil. While waiting, mix 3 cups of flour and salt together (food processors work great for this). Slowly pour in year and oil mixture until it forms a ball.
Turn dough out on a floured surface then knead several times until dough forms a smooth ball.
In an oiled bowl coat the ball of dough evenely. Spray a piece of wax paper with oil and place on top of bowl. Cover with a damp cloth. Leave dough in a warm place until double in size 30 - 60 minutes. Remove to a floured surace and punch down. Use right away, refrigerate in a sealed plastic bag up to 2 days or freeze up to 1 month. |
